Bitget Token (BGB): BGB Is Morph Gas and Governance
BGB is the native gas and governance asset of Morph and continues to support selected Bitget exchange and wallet products. This current role is broader than its original ERC-20 exchange-token identity. This page focuses on bGB Is Morph Gas and Governance and the checks users need before using the protocol or evaluating the token role.
Use BGB on Morph or Bitget while understanding the token swap, gas, governance and current ecosystem roles.

BGB Is Morph Gas and Governance
BGB now has a protocol-native network role as well as platform utility.
Bitget Token workflow from the first user decision to a verified outcome.
Native network use
Morph adopted BGB as its gas and governance token under a 2025 partnership with Bitget. A wallet needs BGB to pay ordinary Morph transaction and contract-execution fees. Sending a stablecoin or another token on Morph does not remove that gas requirement unless a specific sponsored transaction service covers it.
Morph is an Ethereum Layer 2 focused on consumer and payment use cases. A familiar EVM address is not an Ethereum mainnet balance: users must select Morph, use the correct bridge or exchange withdrawal, and interact with contracts deployed on that network.
Governance and ecosystem utility
The Morph Foundation is responsible for the future BGB roadmap and governance role. BGB also continues to be used in selected Bitget products such as Launchpool, fee benefits, wallet gas services and ecosystem programs, subject to current regional and account rules.
Network governance and exchange benefits are separate systems. Self-custodied BGB can pay Morph gas without necessarily qualifying for a centralized-platform benefit, while an exchange balance may qualify for a product but cannot pay a self-custody transaction until withdrawn to Morph.
A valid old BGB contract can still be the wrong asset for a new workflow.
One-to-one swap and current representation
Bitget announced a 2026 one-to-one swap for BGB on Morph as part of its native-token upgrade. Platform-managed balances could be processed automatically under the announcement, but self-custody holders must identify the current official contract and supported migration route. Old and new tokens can share the same ticker and appear together in a wallet.
Do not approve a migration contract found through search or a social post. Use the current official announcement and Morph or Bitget token list, compare the chain and address, and test supported wallet behavior. A token swap does not move an Ethereum balance to Morph unless the documented route includes that transfer.
Burn Policy and Supply Claims
BGB supply policy changed as the token moved toward Morph.
Foundation allocation and burns
Bitget announced the transfer of 440 million team-held BGB to the Morph Foundation, a burn of 220 million from that allocation and a lock-and-release plan for the remainder. The stated long-term burn mechanism is linked to Morph network activity until total supply reaches 100 million.
Burn announcements should be checked against current supply and onchain transactions. A target is not the same as a completed burn, and supply reduction does not guarantee price performance. Unlocks, incentives, market liquidity and product demand can affect circulating conditions independently.
The combined network and exchange identity creates several distinct failure paths.
Before withdrawing or using BGB
Confirm whether the task needs an exchange balance, an Ethereum token or native Morph BGB. Verify the current contract after the 2026 swap, select the intended withdrawal network and keep enough BGB for follow-up Morph gas. Do not assume every product benefit applies in every region.
Review bridge and contract approvals, and reject unknown migration links. Distinguish the completed burns from future targets. A successful Morph transaction confirms network execution but does not validate the economic safety of a payment application or token contract.

Morph documentation or validation tools
Use Morph documentation for network and bridge behavior and current Bitget announcements for token swaps and platform benefits. Use wallet and token validation tools to compare chain and contract details without sharing a seed phrase or private key.
Bitget transferred team-held BGB to the Morph Foundation, which adopted BGB for network gas and governance and announced a burn path toward a 100 million supply. A 2026 Morph contract swap means users must verify the current representation.
Holding BGB does not guarantee exchange custody, withdrawal availability, discounts, redemption or issuer support. BGB is the asset shown in the market snapshot. BGB pays Morph network gas.
What Bitget Token users should verify and why this design differs
Token contracts, product benefits and network rules can change. Future burn targets are not completed supply reductions.
For Bitget Token, the practical sequence is Identify utility, Verify network, Check issuer rules, Use or transfer, Confirm custody. Confirm the official destination and current network, then inspect the final balance, position, receipt or documented exit state that actually completes the task: Use BGB on Morph or Bitget while understanding the token swap, gas, governance and current ecosystem roles.
Bitget Token Ecosystem use FAQ
What pays gas on Morph?
Native BGB pays ordinary Morph network gas.
Is BGB only an exchange token?
No. It also serves as Morph native gas and governance under the current model.
Why must I verify the BGB contract?
A 2026 Morph token swap created old and new representations that can share the same ticker.
Known Limitations
Token contracts, product benefits and network rules can change.
Future burn targets are not completed supply reductions.
The page does not verify a migration contract or exchange account.
